Tylosin is a macrolide-class antibiotic used in veterinary medicine. Tylosin has a broad spectrum of activity against gram positive organisms and a limited range of gram negative organisms.
Tylosin is used in veterinary medicine to treat bacterial infections in a wide range of species and has a high margin of safety. Tylosin has also been used as a growth promotant in some species, and as a treatment for colitis in companion animals.
Tylosin is one of the animal antibiotics having largest consumption in the world and is widely used in animal disease prevention and treatment, medicated feed additiveŁ¬its raw medicine sales rank the fifth in the world, its preparation sales rank the fourth in the world. Tylosin has the obvious characteristics of high efficiency, innocuity, no-residue within the effective dose range; it is the indispensable antibiotic in modern intensive livestock breeding development, and one of the antibiotics for grade A green food given in Green food-Veterinary Medicine Guideline and the antibiotic accepted by Pollution-free Food Pig Breeding Veterinary Medicine Guideline.
