¦Â-Carotene is an organic compound - a terpenoid, a red-orange pigment abundant in plants and fruits. As a carotene with ¦Â-rings at both ends, it is the most common form of carotene. It is a precursor (inactive form) of vitamin A. Being highly conjugated, it is deeply colored, and as a hydrocarbon lacking functional groups, it is very lipophilic.
The structure was deduced by Karrer et al. In nature, ¦Â-carotene is a precursor to vitamin A via the action of beta-carotene 15,15'-monooxygenase. ¦Â-Carotene is also the substance in carrots that colours them orange. ¦Â-Carotenoid is biosynthesized from geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate.
The most common side effect of excessive ¦Â-carotene consumption is carotenodermia, a harmless condition that presents as a conspicuous orange skin tint arising from deposition of the carotenoid in the outermost layer of the epidermis. Chronic, high doses of ¦Â-carotene have been associated with increased rate of lung cancer among those who smoke.
The product is stabilized with tocopherol (E306), sodium ascorbate (E301) and ascorbvl palmitate (E304). The stability of beta-carotene 10% is very good even in the presence of minerals. The product is exceptionally resistant to pressure and very little betacarotene is expressed during tabletting. So that it exhibits good stability in tablets. The product is table for at least 24 months when it is stored in the original containers at room temperature (about 25oC)
Specification:
Packaging :1,5,25kg fibreboard box with AL-PE laminated liner, heat-sealed
Storage :The product is sensitive to oxygen, light, heal and moisture. The product should therefore be stored in the tightly closed original containers in a dry and dark place, at room temperature (about 25¡æ). Shelf life :24 months |
