Cefradine (INN) (formerly cephradine BAN) is a first generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Cefradine has similar spectrum of activity to cefalexin. Cefradine works by killing or stopping the growth of the bacteria that cause infections. Cefradine is a broad spectrum antibiotic which means it is active against a wide variety of bacteria.
Cephradine is a first generation cephalosporin antibiotic with a spectrum of activity similar to cephalexin. Cefradine is prescribed in the treatment of certain infections caused by susceptible bacterial strains causing respiratory, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, skin and soft tissue, and bone and joint infections, or septicemia. Cefradine is effective against many gram-positive bacilli and cocci (other than enterococcus) and some gram-negative bacilli.
